Why Are You Here?

Hey!  Welcome, and thanks for checking out the blog!  I hope you leave a comment at the end of this post and let me know why you’re here.  I also want to let you know why I’m here and what you can expect. I’m here because several years ago I came to the point I was unhappy with my life.   Great kids, great wife, but some not so great things, too. Some obvious things were out of balance – not enough free time, not enough time for the people or things I love, too much to do at home, starting and not finishing things, working way too much and not getting enough out of it – but the real problem was me. I didn’t have any direction or plan.  I was “working hard,” yet too often just going through the motions.  There was no sense of purpose or significance to connect the dots in my life.  I knew there had to be “more than this,” but I didn’t know what it was, and I sure didn’t know how to get there. In short, I was stuck. My dreams were gone.  Seems I’d misplaced them somewhere along the way.   And, I had no goals.  I had ideas of what I wanted – things like, “be happier,” “make more money,” “have more fun” – but no real goals.  Ideas make a nice wish list, but they don’t make much of a plan. And, about that time, I was coming to believe “life to the full” is what people are supposed to experience.  I was getting really frustrated. So, I changed my questions and started looking for answers to things like, “how do I find my dreams again,”  “what does ‘life to the full’ mean,” and, “what do I want to do with the rest of my life?” These were big and sometimes scary questions.  Can’t we just make this “fast, fun, and easy” like Michael Hyatt put it in a recent post?  Can’t I just “tune things up” a bit?   Ironically, the “tune up your life” approach was taking forever and getting me nowhere.  But, I finally found a simple formula and once I started using a few...
